The Center for Research on State Governance is an interactive research platform for idea exchange, theory innovation and policy proposal. The establishment of the Center in August, 2014 is one of the key initiatives of RUC in responding to modernized state governance summoned by the era. The Center is dedicated to undertaking concept innovation and pattern exploration for modernized state governance, studying and reflecting on mechanisms and pathways to enhance national governance capacity, and researching international demonstration and comparison of China’s governance pattern. The Center also undertakes the editing work for the Journal of State Governance. Members of the Center have been working together to build the Journal of State Governance into the most influential think tank journal for state governance in China. The Center and Shenzhen Innovation and Development Institute (SZIDI) co-released the Annual Report on State Governance Innovation, stating annual major events in China’s governance field and analyzing the reform logic of governance innovation in China. The 2014 annual report has been released and received wide recognition.

Professor (Grade II) and Doctoral Supervisor of the Department of Political Science, RUC; Founding Chief Editor for the Review of Comparative Politics; Distinguished Professor of the Changjiang Scholars Program, MOE; Vice President of the Chinese Association of Political Science; Part-time Professor of the Party School of the Central Committee of CPC, China Executive Leadership Academy, Jinggangshan and other universities. Yang has published nearly 100 pieces of academic paper on first-rate domestic and overseas journals such as Social Sciences in China, CASS Journal of Political Science and Journal of Contemporary China, published 11 works such as Delimiting Democracy and Strategic Options for China’s Political Development, and rendered extensive academic influence both at home and abroad.
