Center for Labor Market Research

Relying on the National Academy of Development and Strategy, the Center tracks major issues of labor market in the process of institutional transition and socio-economic development and conducts special studies on the hot issues through detailed empirical research and rigorous research paradigm. It also fosters the research team for academic and policy studies and creates the talent pool, information base and communication platform that rest on the national people’s congress and serve for China. In addition to active independent research, the Center carefully organizes academic exchanges and research activities to promote academic and political discussion and sharing. It is committed to a policy consultation center with significant influence in the labor market, which serves the community in the forms of academic papers, policy research reports and public interactions.

Zhao Zhong

Zhao is a member of the Academic Committee, Professor of Economics and Associate Dean of the School of Labor and Human Resources, RUC. He is a recipient of the 2013 Kuznets Prize of the Journal of Population Economics, MOE Program for New Century Excellent Talents, and University of Canberra Outstanding Scholars. His recent research topics on China include rural-urban migration, impact of family planning policy and population aging on the labor market, entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial behavior, child and youth employment, income instability and inequality, and family, business and social impact of health care and health insurance policies. He has published in both international and Chinese economics journals, such as Economic Research Journal, China Economic Quarterly and Management World, Journal of World Economy, Review of Economics and Statistics, Review of Income and Wealth, Journal of the Royal Statistical Society (Series A), Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization, Economics Letters, Journal of Population Economics, and Journal of Comparative Economics.
