Center for Research on Social System Engineering

The Center for Research on Social System Engineering uses ideas and methods of social system engineering to study system links and general operation of economic, political, cultural, social, ecological civilization and human resource construction, forecast, analyze and judge the progress of reform and development, provide research reports on key strategic issues or hot issues, conduct overall analysis, argumentation, coordination and planning based on the requirements of the overall goal and the overall coordination for development strategies, and propose formulation and implementation methods for development strategies and schemes. The Center strives for scientificity, foresight, systematicness, feasibility, operability and effectiveness. By underlining problem awareness and reinforcing countermeasure study, the Center aims to provide decision-making consultation and support for modern state governance and social governance capacity and transform academic research achievements into policy suggestions. As a multidisciplinary and comprehensive academic research platform, the Center is equipped with researchers from the areas of philosophy, Marxism, public administration, politics, law, sociology, literature, information science and system science.

Director

Lin Jian

Professor of Editorship for Journal of Renmin University of China; Secretary-General of Beijing Society for Philosophy of Nature, Science and Technology; Associate Editor for the journal World of Ecological Civilization; former Visiting Scholar at Yonsei University, South Korea. Lin’s works include Introduction of Culture Studies, Master of Humanity: Basic Research and Innovation Methods, From Books to the Internet-Evolution of Science and Technology Communication, Innovation Integration Theory-Research on Integration Mechanism for Sci-tech Innovation and Cultural Innovation, Corporate Culture and Culture of Samsung (available in Chinese and Korean). Lin’s major research areas include: culturology, urbanology and philosophy of science and technology. Lin has organized multiple public policy seminars and his opinions were included in Experts Discussing the Development of Beijing for many times. Lin has also received the second award for outstanding expert advice in the system of Beijing Association for Science and Technology.

Zhang Yunfei

Professor and Doctoral Supervisor of the School of Marxism Studies, RUC. Zhang is mainly engaged in studies of social development theory and ecological ethics. Zhang’s key works include: Crossing the “Valley”-Thoughts of Marx in His Later Years and Contemporary Social Development Theory, The Scientific Development Viewpoint and Building a Well-off Society in An All-round Way, Ecological Civilization in the Perspective of Historical Materialism, Harmony between Human and Nature-Confucianism and Ecological Environment, Farmer Household in China, Environmental Ethic Options of New-type Industrialized Nations: A Case Study of South Korea, and Ecological Civilization-Innovation Choice for Building a Beautiful China. Zhang has published over 130 pieces of academic paper in China and South Korea.
