This session, taking as its axis the profound transformation of the global strategic landscape, examined the fundamental characteristics of major country strategic competition, systematically assessed changes in the strength and strategic adjustments of key countries, and analyzed from multiple angles the compound impacts and interaction effects of hotspot conflicts in the Eurasian region. Scholars and experts pointed out that at the current stage, the means of maintaining hegemony have become more diversified; the established rules of major country competition have been significantly disrupted; the weaponization of economic interdependence has become more pronounced; and technological and industrial rivalry have emerged as the focal points of the present round.
They called for seizing opportunities in cutting-edge technological and industrial transformation, striving to take the initiative in the power shifts brought by the new wave of scientific and industrial revolutions. They stressed that major country strategic competition is a long-term and comprehensive contest of national power, requiring a clear focus on priority areas and main directions at different stages, prudent use of strategic resources, and avoidance of overextension or falling into deliberate traps that could lead to strategic exhaustion. They further emphasized responding to the risks and interconnected challenges across the Eurasian continent with strategic prudence, prioritizing the security and stability of neighboring regions, and more actively and effectively strategic influencing the surrounding environment to shape a favorable strategic posture for China.
