On April 13, 2025, the 15th Biweekly Policy Analysis Meeting—titled “Seminar on Building a Community with a Shared Future with Neighboring Countries and Studying the Spirit of the Central Conference on Work Related to Neighboring Countries”—was held. The event was hosted by the National Academy of Development and Strategy (NADS) at Renmin University of China, and organized by the Center for Research on China’s Neighborhood Diplomacy and Security under NADS. Experts and scholars in attendance engaged in in-depth discussions around the central theme of the seminar.
Experts emphasized the importance of coordinating development and security. On one hand, it is essential to deepen development integration and build a regional economic community characterized by interconnected interests and coordinated growth. On the other hand, joint efforts are needed to maintain regional stability and develop an Asian security model based on mutual security, unity in diversity, and dialogue and consultation, ultimately enhancing regional security resilience.
In light of the complex and challenging international environment, participants suggested that China should adopt a sub-regional perspective, tailoring regional policies to the distinct characteristics of each sub-region. They also called for enhanced strategic interactions with neighboring major countries and regional centers of influence, in order to promote the steady and sustained progress of building a Community with a Shared Future with Neighboring Countries.
