Nie Huihua, Deputy Dean of the NADS visited the Jingdong Group

On May 3rd, Prof. Nie Huihua, Deputy Dean of the National Academy of Development and Strategy of Renmin University of China, Ma Liang, Assistant to the Dean of NADS and Associate Professor of the School of Public Administration, Han Donglin, NADS Fellow and Associate Professor of School of International Relations, and Zhangnan Diyang, Deputy Derector of Center for Research on Government-Enterprise Relationship and Industrial Development of NADS and Assistant Professor visited the Jingdong Group headquarters. The subject of this research is business environment and technological innovation.

First, the research group discussed with the Dean of the JD Group's Public Strategy Research Institute. During the discussion, they learned about the business environment framework that companies need to master, Jingdong’s role as a public company’s public value, and the operations of Jingdong’s cloud and logistics operations. The two parties communicated to further clarify the research direction of the cooperation between the government-enterprise relationship research center and the e-commerce research center of the NADS and the Jingdong Group.

Subsequently, the research team visited a number of intelligent consumer projects such as Jingdong unsupervised supermarket, Jingdong convenience store, Jingdong smart living museum, and automated logistics equipment such as drones. Under the leadership of Dean Zeng, the research team experienced the advanced technologies such as face recognition, motion recognition, and automatic settlement, and communicated with Dean Zeng on the role, prospects, and bottlenecks of artificial intelligence projects. In the afternoon, the research group came to the laboratory of the Jingdong X Division, and the relevant staff demonstrated and introduced the research and development of the logistics automatic sorting system and the transportation system to the research group, and explained the great role of the intelligent logistics system in improving the efficiency and the need for independent research and development.

Through this research, the research team learned about the modernization, information, and diversified operations of this large JD company, and deeply understood the application prospects of artificial intelligence in modern commercial and logistics systems, as well as had further understanding about government-business relations, corporate innovation, etc.
