On June 19-21, Liu Ruiming, a researcher at the NADS of Renmin University of China, led a team to the headquarters of Shenzhen China Resources Group and related enterprises to conduct “100 Companies Survey”. Zhu Hongbo, deputy director of the office of China Resources Group, and others met with the research team and had in-depth exchanges with the research team. The two sides jointly summarized and refined the development model and successful experience of China Resources Group in the course of the 40 years of reform and opening up, and unearthed some typical practices and specific cases of China Resources Group with reference value, and discussed the future development, trends and directions of China Resources Group's different fields and industries.

On the afternoon of the 19th, the research team visited the first supermarket of China Resources Vanguard and experienced the newly opened eight centers and self-service. Then, the research team conducted a two-hour discussion with the frontline staff and middle and high-level management cadres of China Resources Vanguard, and fully understood the development of China Resources Vanguard Supermarket and its efforts and attempts to improve the competitiveness of stores in the new era.

On the morning of June 20th, the research team visited the plant of China Resources Cement Plant in Dongguan and had a discussion with the relevant personnel of the cement plant. Throughout the development process of Dongguan Cement Plant and the environment of the country's production capacity, Dongguan Cement Plant broke through soft constraints deeply rooted in SoEs and have achieved in-depth understanding of the mechanisms within the group. On the afternoon of the 20th, the research team continued to visit Huizhou China Resources University and had a discussion with the school teachers. They systematically understood the campus construction, operation mechanism and innovation platform of China Resources University.

On June 21, the research team conducted a five-hour in-depth interview with the leaders of various departments of China Resources Group. The two sides have carried out in-depth exchanges and discussions on China Resources' red genes, commercial civilization, institutional mechanisms, technological innovation, and talent management issues around the historical process of reform and opening up for forty years, and have deep understanding of the cordination among the different departments within the China Resources Group.

During the three-day research and interviews, the research team learned that the development history of China Resources is closely related to the great history of national reform and opening up. The industry in which China Resources is located is a general competitive field related to the national economy and the people's livelihood, which share the same fate with our nation and Chinese people. It has long abandoned the concept of enterprise-run society, adopted a corporate governance structure adapted to China's commercial development, and performed well in optimizing resource allocation and cultivating industrial chains. Starting from the red gene, China Resources has been embedded in commercial civilization and has become a pioneer in the reform of state-owned enterprises. It not only created good business performance, but also got rid of some of the drawbacks of traditional state-owned enterprises, realized the value-added of state-owned enterprises, and actively served to solve the "unbalanced, Insufficient" which is the main contradiction of this new era.

The research conducted by the NADS is one of the “100 companies” survey series conducted in accordance with the requirements of the Central Propaganda Department for the state’s high-end think tanks. The purpose of the series of surveys is to summarize the successful experiences of Chinese enterprises in the past four decades of reform and opening up, promote the spirit of reform and opening up, and provide theoretical support for further comprehensive deepening reforms.
