14th Biweekly Policy Analysis Meeting: “Interdisciplinary Symposium on the Current International Economic, Trade, and Financial Landscape”


On April 10, 2025, the 14th Biweekly Policy Analysis Meeting, titled the “Interdisciplinary Symposium on the Current International Economic, Trade, and Financial Landscape” was successfully held by the National Academy of Development and Strategy at Renmin University of China.

Zheng Shuiquan, Vice Chair of the University Council at Renmin University of China, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Zheng pointed out that the world is undergoing changes  unseen in a century. The global economic, trade, financial, political, and legal systems are facing unprecedented challenges, calling for experts from various fields to put forward policy recommendations from diverse perspectives. He emphasized that interdisciplinary research is essential to spark new ideas and provide intellectual support for effective response to the complex and volatile external environment.

The symposium was chaired by Professor Liu Qing, Executive Dean of the National Academy of Development and Strategy at Renmin University of China. Speakers included Professor Zhang Yu from the School of Economics, Senior Research Fellow Zhou Tianyong from the Institute of Global Governance and Development, Professor Shi Jingxia from the Law School, Professor Diao Daming from the School of International Studies, Professor Liu Xiaoguang from the National Academy of Development and Strategy, Professor Cui Fan from the School of International Trade and Economics at the University of International Business and Economics, Professor Lin Faqin from the Department of Economics and Trade at the College of Economics and Management at China Agricultural University, Associate Professor Yu Changhua (tenured) from the National School of Development at Peking University, as well as leaders from relevant departments.

Professor Lei Da from the School of Economics at Renmin University of China summarized the experts’ remarks. The attending experts conducted an in-depth analysis of the current international economic, trade, and financial situation based on their respective areas of expertise, and offered unique insights on response strategies.
