Diao Daming

Dr. Diao Daming is a Wu Yuzhang Young Scholar at Renmin University of China and serves as Vice Dean of the National Academy of Development and Strategy. He is a Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the School of International Studies, where he also serves as Party Secretary and Director of the Department of Diplomacy and Deputy Director of the Center for American Studies.

His research areas include American politics and foreign policy, as well as China-U.S. relations. He also serves as a council member of the Chinese Association for American Studies and an executive council member of the Diplomacy Research Division of the Society for the History of China’s Foreign Affairs. In addition, he is an editorial board member of Foreign Affairs Review, International Political Science, and Contemporary American Review.

He has published more than fifty academic papers in journals such as World Economics and Politics, American Studies Quarterly, Contemporary International Relations, Foreign Affairs Review, and International Forum. His monographs include America First: U.S. Domestic Political Change and Foreign Policy Adjustment During the Trump Administration, The Nation’s Purse: The U.S. Congress and Appropriations Politics, Deconstructing Capitol Hill: Congressional Politics and U.S. Lawmakers’ Behavior Toward China, and Handbook of U.S. Congressional Studies. He has led and completed major projects funded by the National Social Science Foundation of China, as well as youth projects under the same foundation, and has undertaken multiple commissioned research projects for the Publicity Department, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Commerce, and other Party and state institutions.
