AprThe delegation led by the President of Brazil’s Campinas State University, Antonio Meirelles, visited Renmin University of China (RUC) on March 13.
Lin Shangli, President of RUC, welcomed the delegation, accompanied by Wu Fula, Vice Chair of the University Council.
During the meeting, Lin Shangli extended a warm welcome to Meirelles and his delegation and briefed them on the overseas centers of RUC and its coordinated development across multiple campuses. He emphasized the university’s dedication to fundamental theoretical studies and research on national development strategies, highlighting the importance of foundational, strategic, and forward-looking studies.
Lin also noted RUC’s efforts to actively build a cross-disciplinary research system between the humanities and social sciences and natural sciences based on its own academic characteristics and disciplinary advantages. He pointed out the potential for significant cooperation between RUC and Campinas State University in areas such as public policy, population and health, and ecological environment, expressing anticipation for various forms of collaboration in joint scientific research, and faculty and student exchanges in the future.
Antonio Meirelles introduced the academic situation of Campinas State University, emphasizing its strengths in various fields such as the humanities and social sciences, natural sciences, and the establishment of interdisciplinary platforms, including a specific center for Chinese studies. He expressed the hope for further deepening cooperation with RUC, encouraging academic exchanges and collaborative research between the faculties and students of both universities to jointly address global challenges and contribute to the well-being of both countries' peoples.
Following the meeting, representatives from both universities held a cooperative symposium focusing on academic research, faculty and student exchanges, and book publications in disciplines such as natural sciences, arts, agricultural economics, environmental science, and health research.
