AugOn July 12th, Lin Shangli, President of RUC, met with Stelios Virvidakis, Greek Director of the Center for Chinese and Greek Civilizations and Honorary Professor of Philosophy at the University of Athens. Zheng Xinye, Vice President of RUC, also attended the meeting.
Lin stated that RUC and the University of Athens have established an intercollegiate partnership as early as 2011, and the cooperation and exchange between the two universities embody the friendly relations between China and Greece. The establishment of the Center for Chinese and Greek Civilizations has built a new platform and added new impetus for the two universities to carry out intercollegiate cooperation. And he hoped that both sides will continue to promote the joint construction of a cooperative mechanism for ancient Greek studies and jointly build a global academic platform under the framework of the Center for Chinese and Greek Civilizations.
In addition, Lin also stated that RUC will take advantage of the university’s specialty in Chinese language and culture to support the establishment of a Chinese Language and Culture Department at the University of Athens, promoting the sharing of high-quality academic resources between the two institutions. Lin sincerely invited scholars and experts from the University of Athens to carry out visiting teaching at RUC.
At the end of the meeting, Lin looked forward to building more bilateral cooperation mechanisms to further deepen the exchange in the field of civilization dialogue between the two universities, and to jointly write a new chapter in the exchange and mutual learning of Chinese and Greek civilizations.
Stelios Virvidakis stated that the establishment of the Center for Chinese and Greek Civilizations has built a solid platform for educational cooperation and academic dialogue. The center will actively promote scholars from Greece and other European countries to visit and exchange at RUC, building a bridge for exchanges between RUC, the University of Athens, and other Greek universities, and promoting the exchange and mutual learning of Chinese, Greek, and European civilizations.
Faculty staff from the Research Office, International Cooperation and Exchange Office, School of Philosophy, School of History, Mingde Academy, and the Institute of Chinese Civilization also attended the meeting.
