Jerrold Green: Climate Cooperation Between China and the USA is "Imperative"

On Tuesday, the 2023 China-US Public Diplomacy Summit took place in Beijing, with participation from over 40 experts. The event was co-hosted by Renmin University of China, China Public Diplomacy Association, and China Daily. Here are highlights from the speech delivered by Jerrold GreenPresident of the Pacific Council on International Policy.

Climate cooperation between China and the USA is 'imperative'

There is the greatest opportunity for the cooperation between China and the United States is cooperation in the field of climate change. The two countries already have successful history and cooperation experience in the climate fields, such as limiting and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, promoting electric vehicles, pollution reduction, offshore wind, etc. The prospects for further cooperation in the future are very optimistic. Past experiences show that these are the best areas where both sides can engage in active and constructive cooperation. Local diplomacy means a lot, California and China local institutions have achieved a lot in these areas, and the future looks bright.
