Industrial policies are policies commonly used by late-developing countries in the process of achieving economic catch-up, having a profound impact on China's industrial structure, macro-economy and import and export. At the same time, industrial policies have also provoked some debates in academia and society. How are China's industrial policies formulated? How to value the effects of industrial policies? Where will the industrial policies go in the future?

Speaker Profile

Gu Qiang is from Nantong, Jiangsu Province. He studied at Renmin University of China and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, getting a doctorate in management. He is currently Senior Vice President of China Fortune Land Development Co., Ltd. and Dean of the Chinese Academy of Industry Economy Research. He worked in the Ministry of Textile Industry, the State Economic and Trade Commission and the National Development and Reform Commission. Besides, he once served as Deputy Director of the Planning Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Gu has been engaged in research about industrial development strategies, planning and policies for a long time. He has participated in the planning of many major national programs, including “Industrial Transformation and Upgrading (2011-2015)”,“National Strategic Emerging Industry 12th Five-Year Plan”, “Made in China 2025”, etc.
