Background:
January 1, 2019 marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of formal diplomatic relations between China and the United States. Over the last four decades, China and the US built a close relationship despite all the twists and turns. As the world is undergoing the most complicated and fundamental changes since the Cold War, the Sino-US relations also face an unprecedented challenge. On December 1, 2018, Heads of both sides met and agreed to move forward the China-US relations on the basis of coordination, cooperation and stability, sending positive signals of pursuing win-win cooperation in spite of all the challenges. However, a series of problems and divergences between the two powers need to be solved. At such a historic juncture, RUC NADS is hosting a roundtable event on the afternoon of December 26, 2018, inviting experts of China-US relations, public diplomacy study and practices to discuss the past, present and future of China-US relations. We hope the event will offer some insights to promote the development of coordination, cooperation and stability between China and the United States.
