ZUO Meiyun: China’s Smart Health and Senior Care Products and Services Enter a Golden Era of Development

At present, China’s smart health and senior care products and services are entering a golden era of development. From the demand side, the internet penetration rate among the elderly population aged 60 and above has surpassed 50%. Meanwhile, intelligent devices across various industries are being adapted for elderly users, providing strong technical support for the implementation of smart senior care services. On the supply side, since 2018, China has issued the Catalogue for the Promotion of Smart Health and Senior Care Products and Services every two years. From the catalogues released so far, health monitoring products for individual use have gradually matured.

Smart health and senior care products and services are developing along three major trends. The first trend is personalization. Strive to precisely match the needs of elderly groups with different ages, health conditions, and living habits, offering customized solutions. The second trend is scenario-based development. Create tailored products and services for diverse care settings such as home-based care, community-based care, and institutional care. The third trend is ease of use. Leverage technological innovation to lower the barriers to using smart devices, eliminating user difficulties and discomfort, and integrating smart products seamlessly into the daily lives of older adults.
