JunThe interdisciplinary research on international politics and psychology can be divided into the political science approach and the psychological approach. International political affairs are characterized by high-level analysis and weak accessibility. Consequently, the integration of international politics and psychology focuses on a limited number of subjects with significant impact, such as leaders and wars.
In the future development of interdisciplinary research, the study of political psychology in leaders has established three theoretical approaches: personality, cognition, and emotion. Additionally, text-based personality tests, big data analysis, and behavioral experiments have been widely adopted. Research on strategic psychological propositions such as diplomatic signaling, credible commitments, international reputation, national role, international status, identity recognition, strategic tacit understanding, international trust, and strategic resolve holds significant enlightening value for understanding China-US strategic relations.
The interdisciplinary research on international politics and psychology represents a typical micro-level approach, whose interdisciplinary advantage lies in enabling deeper and more precise understanding of the human elements and their effects in international politics.
