On the morning of September 22, 2024, the eighth “Biweekly Policy Analysis Meeting” was successfully organized by the National Academy of Development and Strategy of Renmin University of China and RUC Labor Market Research Center. The theme of this meeting was “Innovation-Driven, Strong Nation in Education—Interpretation of the Spirit of the Second National Education Conference”, chaired by Zhao Zhong, Dean and Professor of the School of Labor and Human Resources at Renmin University. Participants included Wang Hongmei, Director of the Personnel Office and Professor at Central University of Finance and Economics; Sun Wenkai, Professor at the School of Economics, Renmin University; Wu Qingjun, Professor at the School of Labor and Human Resources, Renmin University; Zhao Liqiu, Professor at the School of Labor and Human Resources, Renmin University; Zhan Hongyi, Professor at the School of Education, Renmin University; Ding Shouhai, Professor at the School of Applied Economics, Renmin University; Chen Jiaying, Associate Professor at the School of Applied Economics, Renmin University; and Liu Yinan, Associate Professor at the School of Applied Economics, Renmin University.
Key points discussed included:
Wang Hongmei emphasized “the construction of the teaching workforce and ideological guidance”, highlighting that building a strong teaching workforce is a crucial national task. Sun Wenkai elaborated on “building a strong nation in education”, noting it as a systematic project encompassing student training, school-enterprise cooperation, and international openness. Wu Qingjun explored “educational training objectives” from the perspective of industrial policy, indicating that the instability of industrial policy directly affects labor market supply and demand. Zhao Liqiu shared insights on “educational equity”. Zhan Hongyi discussed “digital transformation in education”, pointing out that profound changes are occurring in education with the deep implementation of the national digital education strategy. Ding Shouhai focused on how “high-quality education injects new vitality into high-quality development”. Chen Jiaying offered observations on “rural human capital accumulation”. Liu Yinan examined “education industrial policy and the effectiveness of the ‘Double Reduction’ policy”, stating that the ‘Double Reduction’ policy alleviates students’ academic burdens by regulating off-campus training institutions. Finally, Zhao Zhong delivered concluding remarks, asserting that education must keep pace with socio-economic development and adapt to the ever-changing market demands.
