NovOn the morning of November 17, 2018, the National Academy of Development and Strategy (NADS hereinafter) of Renmin University of China and the Ain Shams University of Egypt signed a Memorandum of Understanding on constructing the "One Belt One Road" Cooperation Research Center at Mingde Building of Renmin University of China and held an unveiling ceremony. Liu Wei, President of the Renmin University of China and Dean of NADS, and Abdel Wahab Ezzat, President of the Ain Shams University of Egypt, attended the ceremony and delivered speeches. The signing ceremony was hosted by Liu Yuanchun, Vice President of Renmin University of China.
Liu Wei, President of the Renmin University of China, reviewed the all-round cooperation and exchanges between the two universities in recent years, especially the exchanges and cooperation with the Ain Shams University in the field of Chinese education and academic publishing. President Liu Wei said that the joint construction of the “One Belt One Road” research center marks a new progress in the exchanges and cooperation between the two universities. He hoped that this platform can be used to promote the communication among scholars, students and research projects between the two schools more effectively.
Abdul Wahab, President of the Ain Shams University of Egypt, expressed sincere gratitude to the RUC for their warm reception and welcome. He mentioned that both China and Egypt are ancient civilizations with a long history. The two countries can work together to produce the prominent achievement. In today's "One Belt One Road" environment, the two universities have continuously deepened cooperation. The establishment of the "One Belt One Road" cooperative research center has not only opened up mutual benefit and win-win cooperation in academic cooperation, scholars' mutual visits, academic forums, publications, etc. but also further promoted the coordinated development of China and Egypt in the fields of economy and culture, enabling the BRI to bring more development opportunities for Egypt and even for Africa.
Liu Yuanchun, vice president of Renmin University of China, pointed out that the memorandum of the "One Belt One Road" Cooperation Research Center signed by the two universities has brought the cooperation between the two universities to a new level. Subsequently, he presided over the meeting and conducted in-depth discussions with the guests on the work of the future “One Belt One Road” cooperative research center, namely, deepening the development of intercollegiate cooperation through seed funds, cooperative research and scholars' exchanges.
Subsequently, Du Peng, Vice President of Renmin University of China, also met with relevant leaders of the Ain Shams University of Egypt, and further exchanged ideas on further promoting the joint construction of the “One Belt One Road” Cooperation Research Center and the international exchanges and cooperation between the two universities.
