On January 13, the project briefing meeting for “Bulk Agricultural Product Trade and Ecological Protection” was held at Renmin University of China. The briefing meeting was jointly organized by the National Academy of Development and Strategy and the School of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development, together with the China-Brazil Center for Civilizational Exchange and Mutual Learning.
XIA Jun, Director-General, and XU Qiangxing, Deputy Director-General, of the Department of International Cooperation of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration; XIAO Wenfa, former Vice President and Research Fellow of the Chinese Academy of Forestry; LI Ming, Party Secretary of the School of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development; and WANG Wei, Vice Dean of the National Academy of Development and Strategy, attended the meeting.
More than 20 expert representatives from government agencies, academia, and the business sector participated in the meeting. The briefing meeting was chaired by LIU Jinlong, Professor at the School of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development of Renmin University of China and Director of the China-Brazil Center for Civilizational Exchange and Mutual Learning.
Professor LIU Jinlong, the project leader, reported the research content and phased achievements of the project, and released the research report titled “A Strategic Study on Global Bulk Product Trade and Ecological Protection”. Participating experts engaged in in-depth discussions on the scientific rigor and practical relevance of the research conclusions, as well as on arrangements related to the release of the research report.
The experts noted that the project topic is forward-looking and of strong practical significance, with a relatively well-structured research framework. They recommended that subsequent research further focus on core issues, enhance the operability of strategic recommendations, and put forward more actionable policy proposals in areas such as supply chain traceability and the development of certification systems. They also emphasized the need to further highlight a Chinese perspective, deepen international collaborative research, and explore regulatory frameworks and technological pathways suited to the realities of developing countries.
