Nie Huihua, Deputy Dean of NADS went to the Jingdong Group to conduct research on “100 companies”

On June 14, Prof. Nie Huihua, Deputy Dean of NADS of Renmin University of China led a team to the Jingdong Group headquarters in Yizhuang Economic and Technological Development Zone in Beijing to carry out “100 Companies” research. Jingdong Group Party Committee Secretary and Vice President Long Baozheng and others met with Professor Nie and his team and conducted in-depth exchanges with the research team. The two parties jointly concluded and refined the development model and successful experience of Jingdong Group in the process of reform and opening up, and discussed the future development trend of e-commerce.

First of all, the research team visited the JD.com Group Party Building Exhibition Hall and learned about the Jingdong Group's new achievements in artificial intelligence, such as Jingdong drones, unmanned delivery vehicles, and smart homes.

Then, the research team held discussions with the relevant personnel of Jingdong Group. In light of Jingdong E-Commerce's competitive advantage, party building characteristics, e-commerce poverty alleviation, and product quality control, the research team conducted more than four hours of in-depth interviews with the group's four vice presidents and three directors.

During the discussion, the research team learned that the self-built logistics system and supply chain efficiency have played an important role in the development process of Jingdong e-commerce, as well as the development conditions, technical difficulties, and international markets of Jingdong Logistics. In terms of party building and poverty alleviation work, the research team learned about the highlights of the JD Group’s party building work centered around production and management, party building management informationization, and e-commerce poverty alleviation in the areas of channel leadership, brand building, and data analysis to help poor areas. In terms of consumption upgrades and high-quality development, the research team conducted in-depth interviews on the trends of consumption upgrades, how to adhere to "successful roads", "do not sell counterfeits", and high-quality development. In the aspect of corporate strategic management, the research team learned about Jingdong Group's major strategy, strategy development process, and governance structure.

The research conducted by the NADS is one of the “100 companies” survey series conducted in accordance with the requirements of the Central Propaganda Department for the state’s high-end think tanks. The purpose of the series of research is to sum up the successful experiences of Chinese enterprises in the past four decades of reform and opening up and to promote the spirit of reform and opening up, so as to provide theoretical support for further comprehensive deepening reforms. Members participating in the survey include: Jiang Ting, Researcher of Center for Research on Government-Enterprise Relationship and Industrial Development of NADS and Lecturer of the School of Economics, Zou Jingxian, Research of Center for Research on E-commerce of NADS, student assistants of NADS Li Jing, Bao Jiahao, Lin Jiani and others.
