National Academy of Development and Strategy of RUC Holds the Council Meeting to Raise 100 Million Yuan to be used as High-end Think Tank Research Funds

On the afternoon of Oct. 12, the Council Meeting of National Academy of Development and Strategy (NADS) of RUC and the Signing Ceremony of National High-end Think Tank Research Fund Endowment Agreement were grandly kicked off at RUC, participants of which included Jin Nuo, Secretary of Party Committee of RUC and Director General of NADS, and Liu Wei, President of RUC and NADS, Chen Dongsheng, Chairman and CEO of Taikang Insurance Group, Mao Zhenhua, Chairman of China Chengxin Credit Management Co., Ltd., QiuGuogen, Chairman and CIO of Shanghai Chongyang Investment Co., Ltd. and other council members, as well as member representatives of Academic Committee of NADS.

Liu Wei, President of RUC and NADS introduced RUC's several strategic concepts on NADS development by making a report entitled "Gather Full Efforts, Wisdom of Council Members and Strengths in Academic Research to Build a ‘National High-end Think Tank’ with RUC characteristics".

President Liu Wei said, RUC would continue to put the construction of "national high-end think tank" into an important strategic position, make continuous innovations on the system and mechanism for think tank construction, integrate advantages to make breakthroughs, pay attention to the response to significant practical issues in urgent need to be resolved, and make further efforts to build a complete think tank support system. He also said, RUC had been striving to build itself into a demonstration and sample of "national high-end think tank", and set it as a new benchmarking for the construction of new think tank with Chinese characteristics.

During the council meeting, Jin Nuo, Secretary of Party Committee of RUC and Director General of NADS awarded letters of appointment to council members to Chen Dongsheng, Chairman and CEO of Taikang Insurance Group, Mao Zhenhua, Chairman of China Chengxin Credit Management Co., Ltd., QiuGuogen, Chairman and CIO of Shanghai Chongyang Investment Co., Ltd., and signed the endowment agreement and memorandum with donors on behalf with NADS.

Chairwoman Jin Nuo pointed out that think tank construction needed strong supports from a group of entrepreneurs having a sense of social responsibility. NADS would integrate rich academic resources for the innovation and breakthrough of think tank platform, and make efforts to build a national high-end think tank that is trustworthy and useful to the Party and government and has the characteristics of RUC.

Liu Yuanchun, Executive President of NADS and council member moderated the council meeting and announced to the audiences that the endowment ceremony raised funds up to 100 million yuan, and NADS would tighten fund management system, improve think tank governance structure, stimulate innovation creativity to release think tank productivity, promote the production and innovation of though fruits, and play the pioneering role of "national high-end think tank" in providing consultation to and interacting with decision makers as well as in setting up a bridge for the communication between decision makers and the social public. Executive President Liu said, the use of research funds for NADS high-end think tank would be transparent to the whole society. Some funds would be used to guarantee NADS's financial liquidity; and some would be injected for capital operation in the form of mother funds to get more operating incomes and meet financing demands for the sustainable development of think tank. Under mechanical protection, NADS has established some brand teams such as "China Macro Economy Forum” and incubated more than ten professional institutes and research centers, such as the Institute of State Governance, Energy and Resource Strategic Research Center, Anti-corruption and New Political Economy Research Center, and Social Transformation and Governance Research Center. Since 2015, NADS has produced more than 300 kinds of internal reference outcomes and think tank products, and taken actions with written instructions of state leaders, thus bringing extensive influences in all walks of life.

Council member Mao Zhenhua and QiuGuogen made speeches on behalf of the donors and said they were pleasant to make contributions to the construction of national think tank. They believed that RUC had strong strengths in talent training, academic accumulation and ideological creativity, and expressed their hope that RUC could be a key force to construct national think tank. Prof. Yang Ruilong, Prof. GuoQingwang, Prof. Mao Jiye, Prof. Liu Fengliang and Prof. Shi Yinhong made speeches on behalf of members of academic committee and highly praised strong supports from entrepreneurs to RUC think tank construction. Experts and scholars expected to take RUC as the platform to drive the coordinated development of academic researches and policy researches, pulling think tank construction of universities into a new stage.

Participants of the council meeting also included such member representatives of the academic committee as Wang Limin, Managing Vice President of RUC, Zheng Shuiquan, Assistance to the President and Director of School Office of RUC, Gu Tao, Director of Fiscal and Financial Department of RUC, Guo Haiying, Director of Alumni Office of RUC and Vice Secretary General, as well as such members of NADS Affair Committee such as Nie Huihua, Wang Lili and Wu Cong, Vice Presidents of NADS.
