Background & Introduction:
On November 15, 2023, local time, Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Biden held a summit meeting in San Francisco. On the basis of mutual respect, equality and reciprocity, the two heads of state exchanged views on promoting dialogue and cooperation in various fields, and reached more than 20 consensus on issues of political diplomacy, cultural and people-to-people exchanges, global governance, military security. President Xi pointed out that China and the United States should jointly developing a right perception, jointly managing disagreements effectively, jointly advancing mutually beneficial cooperation, jointly shouldering responsibilities as major countries, and jointly promoting people-to-people exchanges. These will become the five pillars for the stable development of China-U.S. relations, creating a San Francisco Vision for the future of bilateral relations.
In order to further implement President Xi 's San Francisco Vision and promote cultural exchanges between China and the United States, Renmin University of China, China Public Diplomacy Association and China Daily will jointly hold the 2023 China-U.S. Public Diplomacy Summit.
As a high-level annual think tank event of RUC, the China-U.S. Public Diplomacy Summit has been held for seven consecutive sessions since 2015. It aims to support national development through innovative thinking, create a platform for diversified exchanges and rational dialogues in the international strategy community to enhance worldwide mutual understanding and avoid misjudgment, enhance trust and cooperation, increase the discourse power and influence of Chinese thinkers on the world stage.
