The 17th Seminar on International Hot Issues —"The New Situation in Afghanistan and Its Global Impact” Was Successfully Held

On March 8, 2024, the 17th seminar on international hot issues themed “The new situation in Afghanistan and its global impact” was successfully hosted by the National Academy of Development and Strategy (NADS), Renmin University of China RUC) and organized by the World Situation Research Center, RUC.

TAO Wenzhao, Vice President of the NADS, delivered the speech. Attendees included CHEN Xiaogong, former Deputy Director of the Central Foreign Affairs Office; YUE Xiaoyong, Special Envoy for Afghanistan Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China; LI Li, Senior Research Professor and Deputy Director of the Institute for International Relations at Tsinghua University; WANG Xu, Associate professor and Executive Deputy Director of Centre for South Asian Studies in Peking University; WANG Shida, Deputy Director and Associate Researcher of the South Asia Institute of the Chinese Academy of Contemporary International Relations; CHEN Xiaoqin, TIAN Wenlin, Professors at the School of International Studies of Renmin University of China; DIAO Daming, Professor at the School of International Studies of Renmin University of China and Deputy Director of the World Situation Research Center. The seminar was moderated by ZHU Dan, Researcher at NADS and Deputy Director of the World Situation Research Center, RUC.

YUE Xiaoyong delivered the keynote speech. Subsequently, experts engaged in in-depth discussions, exchanging views on changes in the regional and international situation around Afghanistan, major power policies, and other issues. Drawing on their latest research results, current international trends, and the development of China’s foreign relations, they conducted a comprehensive analysis and discussion from different perspectives.
