Reporter's Introduction:

LIU Yawei is the Director of China Programme in Carter Center, Adjunct Professor of Political Science at Emory University, Associate Director of the China Research Center in Atlanta and Member of U.S Foreign Council. He is the Senior Research Fellow at China’s Big Power Policy Think Tank. His research interests include the development of political history and politics in the United States, Sino-U.S. relations, globalization, and China’s political and social development and China’s relations with the Taiwan Strait. He received a bachelor's degree from Xi'an International Studies University in 1982, a master's degree in American history from the University of Hawaii in 1989, and a US doctoral degree in diplomatic history from Emory University in 1996.

Dr. Liu Yawei has long been responsible for the exchanges and cooperation between the Carter Center and the Chinese and academic institutions. He accompanied President Carter to visit China and met with senior Chinese leaders. The Carter Center is located in Atlanta, United States, and is a public policy research institution established by former US President Jimmy Carter in 1982.
