The 19th Issue of Policy Briefing, NADS: Administrative Level is the Key to Understand City’s Development

Recently, the introduction of Xiong’an New Area led to the heated discussion from Chinese academic community and mass media on city construction and industrial development. What kind of element decide high housing price, industrial development and regional spillover effect? Is the historical base, geological location or preferential policy? To explore these problems deeply, Center for Research on Government-Enterprise Relationship and Industrial Development, NADS, held lecture themed “Administrative Level is the Key to Understand City’s Development”, discussing the influence of administrative level on city’s development. The lecture was divided into three segments. In the first segment, Researcher Jiang Ting introduced the main content of this lecture. He used the China’s industrial enterprises database and city database from 1999 to 2007 and found that administrative levels is the key to understand city’s development. In the second segment, Deputy Dean of NADS Nie Huihua made wonderful comments. He pointed out that the study of power in economics can provide a new research method, and power influenced resources allocation and further influenced city’s development, which is very significant. Meanwhile, Professor Nie made evaluation on the development of Xiong’an New Area and population control. This lecture was moderated by Deputy Director Zhang Nan Diyang, Center for Research on Government-Enterprise Relationship and Industrial Development.
