Center for Research on China's Neighborhood Diplomacy and Security
Since regions around China are a vital strategic basis for China's diplomacy, neighborhood diplomacy is of great significance to China's rise and diplomatic relations. In recent years, the contradictions of interests between China and its surrounding sovereign states have been escalating, posing tough tests to China's decision makers as to solutions to such neighborhood diplomacy problems. The Center focuses research on China's neighborhood diplomacy policy, traditional and non-traditional security issues in surrounding regions, foreign policy and strategy of neighboring states, hot issues in surrounding regions such as the North Korea nuclear issue and maritime and boundary disputes in East Asia, and regional cooperation in East Asia. By continuously tracking, studying and digging into the above hot issues in surrounding regions, the Center offers corresponding policy consultations and research findings. While influencing domestic media, the Center is also actively involved in promoting understanding and knowledge of the international community about China so as to further enhance the country's global status and influence.
